Welcome to the
Catholic Book Publishers Association
National Reading Program called

CatholicsRead

Program Explanation (pdf file)

What is CatholicsRead?
In an effort to encourage Catholics to read the Bible and related books, the Catholic Book Publishers Association announced a new program called CatholicsRead in the fall of 2003.  We invite participation in this program from bookstores who sell to the Catholic market, and to national organizations, dioceses, parishes, schools, individuals, and, of course, our member publishers.

How will this work?
Each year, CatholicsRead will highlight three books from the Bible. The first few years, the books chosen will be related to the liturgical cycle. Publisher members of CBPA are invited to offer books from their lists that are related to the featured biblical books or to a major theme of the biblical books and themes chosen for each liturgical year.

For example, in 2003, the three books from the Bible were Job, Luke, and Romans. For example, suitable books for the program that were related to the Job selection, might range from a scholarly exegesis on Job to a prayer book on suffering. In this way, we hope to involve publishers serving a wide rage of readers.

The 2010 Liturgical year will feature:  Luke, Revelation and Genesis. The 2009 Liturgical year featured:  Mark, Acts and Exodus.   CatholicsRead will be driven by many factors, but this internet site, http://www.CatholicsRead.org, will be an integral part of the program. Here, readers will find basic information about the program, the featured books of the Bible, plus information about Bible translation and available versions.

On this web site, participation publishers will also provide a description of each of their suggested titles, along with the ISBN number and the cost of each book. To purchase books, readers enter their zip code to view a list of bookstores  located in their geographical area or link directly to the publishers' website.

Other years:
The 2008 Liturgical year: Matthew (Cycle A), Book of Wisdom and First Letter to the Corinthians
The 2009 Liturgical year:  Mark, Acts and Exodus
The 2010 Liturgical year: Luke, Revelation and Genesis
